Internet Addiction / Video Game Addiction
The Internet has exploded into our lives and continues to revolutionize the way we do everything. Instead of face-to-face interaction, many of us turn to the Internet for shopping, education, entertainment, friendships, and romantic relationships. The Internet has given us many new opportunities, but for some it has greatly impacted their relationships, school or work functioning, and has kept them in bondage. For others, playing video games has become compulsive, where they play hours longer than intended and have had negative consequences in work, school, or relationships because of video game playing.
If either of these scenarios apply to you, I realize how difficult it can be to find people who understand. Unfortunately, there are not too many good resources available for Internet and video game addictions out there. At the same time, like sex or other behavioral addictions, it is really difficult to heal from these addictions on your own.
As a younger professional, I am very familiar with the benefits and the trappings of the Internet. I grew up with video games, and understand the nuanced care that these compulsive behaviors require. If you would like to learn about what resources are available out there for help from compulsive Internet or video game use, please feel free to contact me at (310) 415-5732 or shoot me an email here.
