About Juan Carlos Quinteros
I am a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (IMFT # 75919) and specialize in providing clinical services to adults, couples, children, teenagers, and families who are struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, child-parent conflict, anger management, spirituality and more. I am a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a Specialization in Latino/a Family Studies from Pacific Oaks College and began my clinical work at Phillips Graduate Institute Counseling Center. I utilize the family systems perspective in clinical practice, and meet clients where they are in their recovery process. I aim for collaborative goals that build on client and community resiliency. In my treatment approach, I have relied heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Bowen’s Family System Therapy.
My clinical experience includes working with different populations and cultures, including the LGBTQ community, in treating issues related to sex, sexual compulsions, sex addiction, trauma, healing and recovery.
I utilize a strengths based approach and I am passionate about providing a safe emotional, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment for each client where you can feel comfortable and safe in your healing process. My clinical work includes helping clients ultimately lead more harmonious, balanced, and fulfilling lives.
In addition, I am bilingual with experience working with different cultures in the Los Angeles area. I am committed to serving youth, adults, and families by providing clinical services in English, Spanish and bilingual-English/Spanish to a varied clientele for individual, couple and family therapy. I have received extensive training and practice on the clinical application of family systems theories with Latino clients and families, and the cultural integration of family dynamics and personal behavior in clinical assessment and practice.
